Clear Eyes, Full Heart, Can’t Lose

From Port-au-Prince, Haiti->Montreal, Canada->Mt. Shasta, CA-> Oklahoma City-> Breckenridge, CO, 2017 has included some of the most transformative moments of my life and although I could go on at length about each experience (which I probably will later), for my first blog post it seems best to reflect on the last 9 months as a whole.

We’ve all heard the phrase “life comes at you fast”, describing life altering changes that seemingly come out of nowhere, and you have two choices: adapt or die. In most instances this isn’t quick, but a slow, painful, arduous death that you never fully grasp until it’s too late. Adapt, or die. In my earlier years, the adaptation process never materialized as quickly as it probably should have, so the opposite began to happen. Then I heard the sentence that will forever shape my life: “I don’t want to end my life thinking I wasted an ounce of my POTENTIAL.” This quote from a dear friend of mine put into context for me something that I had heard before, but never with this much intention.

My journey this past year and shown me the way of adaptation/evolution necessary to thrive no matter the circumstances unraveling around you.

  1. Surround yourself with amazing, lovable people that genuinely care
  2. Go in search of your life’s work
  3. Love and serve unconditionally and out of abundance
  4. Balance is key
  5. Dream BIG

Life has its ebbs and flows, its peaks and valleys, but your perspective regarding its course is what will shape its outcome. Step outside your comfort zone and into your potential, because true personal expansion arrives when you push the envelope of what you’re capable of achieving. Anything is possible when you set your mind to a specific task and you’re ready and willing to put the requisite amount of work in to complete it. Your dreams should be so big that they scare the shit out of you. That’s the driving force necessary to surpass any current obstacle standing in your way, becoming better than the person you were yesterday.

An amazing Chiropractic mission trip in Haiti taught me to be grateful for the opportunities that I have been given and never take anything for granted. Some of the happiest people I have ever met were in a 3rd world country with 97% unemployment. Couldn’t afford bread, but always had a smile on their faces. When you aren’t afforded the luxuries that most of us take for granted every day, receiving even the smallest gesture can be life changing.

Mt. Shasta, CA and Breckenridge, CO allowed me the opportunity to unwind, to enjoy nature and to play. This time was spent with close friends and loved ones who were able to “escape” responsibility for a few days and reconnect with themselves for the first time in a long time. Balance is a vital aspect of life if we are to maximize our potential. All work and no play leads to a broken will and a failure to recharge our internal environment.

FOCUS 2017 allowed me the opportunity of immersion into ChiropracTIC, as well as to show the person that means the most to me WHY I choose to do what I do. After listening to the amazing speakers tell of their experiences in this profession, you cannot deny the power that rests within each individual human being. The main problem being that a majority of our population puts their faith into a broken medical system. A system more interested in sickness than health. The driving force behind the expansion of Chiropractic, BJ Palmer said: “Medicine is the study of disease and what causes man to die. Chiropractic is the study of health and what causes man to live.” LIFE should be the aim of our healthcare system, and that is what I intend on providing to my patients post-graduation. We provide so much more for the wellbeing of our patients than the relief from back and neck pain; search out an established Chiropractor (or myself) if you wish to know more.

Most of these topics will be expressed further in later posts. Love and appreciate you. Until next time, live fearlessly, love unconditionally and maximize your potential every day.
